Museum of Art Fort Collins

The Museum of Art | Fort Collins is the largest museum of contemporary art in Northern Colorado. It was originally incorporated as Horizons Gallery of Contemporary Art in 1983 and then renamed Powerplant Visual Arts Center in 1983 when it was housed in Fort Collins former powerplant.

The center bought the old post office and moved to it in December 1990. It had its opening exhibition in the new building in January 1991.

The museum’s name was changed to Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004 then to Fort Collins Museum of Art in 2010.

The Old Post Office building, where the museum is housed in a three-story Second Renaissance Revival structure designed by James Knox Taylor.
